Sliema-Bugibba-Gozo Ferry Service

The new fast ferry service connecting Gozo, Sliema and Bugibba was launched and began operation in May 2026.

The new route will integrate with the ‘Tallinja bil-Bahar’ system, aiming to enhance the efficiency and uptake of sea transport,
encourage more sea-based commuting and ease road congestion, not only along the main channel and routes to the main ports,but also across other key coastal areas. The use of this service will be further encouraged through a number of free routes,including the one between Buġibba and Sliema.

The ferry will operate between Sliema, Bugibba and Mgarr (Gozo) with the main objective to provide an alternative to road transport and reduce traffic congestion. The service is intended to integrate with existing land transport to reduce road congestion and will connect with the bus system to create a truly multi-modal transport system.
