Medical Services

 The Aero-Medical Section (AMS) forms part of the Civil Aviation Directorate.

 It is responsible for monitoring the conduct of medical examinations for flight crew, air traffic controllers and cabin crew.

The AMS keeps and maintains all medical records, and supervises the conduct of Aeromedical Examiners (AMEs) and the Aeromedical Centre (AeMC) in accordance with Part-ARA requirements.

ATC Medical

Medical examinations for Air Traffic Controllers, Student Air traffic Controllers, Apron Controllers and Student Apron Controllers are conducted in accordance with Commission Regulation (EU) 2015/340.

Flight Crew Medical

Medical examinations for flight crew are conducted in accordance with Part-MED requirements. It is brought to the attention of everyone concerned that with reference to ARA.MED.240 and MED.A.040 (c)(2), Malta does not accept aero-medical examinations for LAPL carried out by GMPs.

Cabin Crew Medical

Medical examinations for cabin crew are conducted in accordance with Part-MED requirements. All medical records for flight crew, air traffic controllers, student air traffic controllers, apron controllers, student apron controllers and cabin crew are to be sent and referred to the Aero-medical Section

AMS Notices

The AMS also publishes and updates notices relating to different arrays of the aero-medical function. These are intended to better guide users with procedures to be followed or provide further in-depth information so all EASA regulations are followed in a diligent manner. As per the Constitution of Malta Act Chapter 1 Article 5 (2), the Maltese and the English languages and such other language as may be prescribed by Parliament (by a law passed by not less than two-thirds of all the members of the House of Representatives) shall be the official languages of Malta and the Administration may for all official purposes use any of such languages, provided that any person may address the Administration in any of the official languages and the reply of the Administration thereto shall be in such language.
