Driving a Light Passenger Transport Vehicle (less than 10 seats)
Light passenger transport vehicles are vehicles used for hire and reward that may carry up to eight passengers besides the driver. Such vehicles may be driven only by holders of a driver’s tag which isissued by the Driver & Vehicles Licensing Unit of Transport Malta to applicants whosatisfy the following requirements:

Are in possession of a category B driving license;

Have attended the Customer Care course at ETC;
-
Are of good repute.
New Application
Applicants will be required to fill in form DP-A13 in order to apply for the customer care course. An application fee of €46.59 will also need to be submitted. The applicant will be scheduled for the next available course, which will normally be held at the beginning of the following month. A test will follow soon after the completion of the course.
Upon successful completion of the course and test, applicant will be required to come personally to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Unit, Hall B, weekdays between 07:30am and 12:00pm and present the following documents:

An original, recent and clean police conduct certificate;

The Customer Care Course Certificate;

Copy of the Identity Card;

Original Driving Licence;

Medical Certificate (if applicant is 50 years and over)
On confirmation of all documentation, an on-site photo will be taken and the client will then be issued with a Tag valid for five years, against a fee of €12.
The driving licence card will need to be deposited since this will need to be updated with the respective harmonized code (103) to show that the client is a tag holder. This is done against a fee of €6.00.
The driver is obliged to wear a valid tag whenever on duty, particularly when a client is in the light passenger transport vehicle.
Renewal of Tag
The following procedure applies for renewing light passenger transport vehicle tags:
The applicant will be required to come personally to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Unit, Hall B, weekdays between 07:30am and 12:00pm and present the following documents:

An original, recent and clean police conduct certificate;

A valid Driving Licence;

Medical Certificate (if applicant is 50 years and over)
